Home making

My husband has never been allowed in a Williams-Sonoma unattended... because although he has wonderful taste, and quality taste, it always comes with a pretty little price tag that leaves me filled with mixed emotions of excitement and stress, gratitude and wondering what card he used, his or ours...

Lowes and Home Depot have always been fairly safe, that was until we bought a home. Bless his soul he wants to make it the perfect little home, beautiful and with quality detailed features, filled to the brim with love and thoughtfulness for his family. He works to efficiently and with too much energy for the check book to keep up some times.

Since moving in back at the beginning of February he has installed custom lighting and switches for the kitchen and the bar counter area; has started on custom lighting in the bathroom (they did not put a light over the shower or tub... dumb move) as well as built the remaining needed fence in the backyard. We have hung up pictures/clocks, etc. bought a bedroom set and a dinning room tablet and chairs (both of which should last for ages) and he has pulled all of the pine needle ground cover (you did read that right, its some weird southern craze us PNWesterans can not fathom purchasing and wanting in your yard) out of the front garden beds, moved bushes and replanted them correctly and put in stepping stones and rock bed covering.

I 'think' things will slow down for a bit, although he always is planning new projects, and the flooring in the kitchen and dining may be next since there is warranty issues and they will have to pull it out anyways, so we may just get them to pay us the difference of putting new flooring in and put in what we would prefer.... this may make my eye start twitching again... oh wait, work is already doing that to me... hmmm

All jokes aside, he is making it lovely, too bad you can not just pack up a whole house and move it to where ever you go (although I guess that is selective since probably half of the houses in our town could very well have this done if they would hold up to the move ; ) )

Spring Showers

Spring showers are continuing into May here in Alabama, and besides battling the allergies, I actually enjoy the seeming weekly downpour with thunder and lightening and the whole nine yards of rain (no joke Oregon, the south gets just as much rain, it just comes and goes a whole lot faster).

Life is plugging along, and while Kristopher and I continue to grow in our marriage (as we should), and work is plugging along at its own sales pace, I miss my west coast culture, as weird as it can be, as close minded some 'open minded' people are. I have always enjoyed music, but find myself attracted to my 'west coast'/'coastal music' genre's more and more often. Others compliment my musical taste and something they like and is different... its not different folks, its just not country, want to be good rap music that isn't, or gospel, and well... that's about what south music sums up.

I know it is all in getting settled in a new place, its the waves of emotion, along with hormonal shifts throughout the month of being a women, and with time I'll find the good folk I want to chat with all the time, that will go on runs with me, that will come over for a cup of coffee or wine, or both and just chat. I'll find cooking friends, and arts and craft friends - in the mean time, I'll plug away at grad school, being a good person, and putting together my home.

By the way, did I mention we bought a dinning room table and chairs... like real, big kid table and chairs... I love them, I want to sit in the dinning room just because I love them that much. I ate breakfast there the other day, and then did Gnome Notes planning there, and well... I continue to find excuses. : )

Now if the fuzzy kid would get the hint that she will be a dead pup soon if she continues to throw dance parties on top of it while we are away, we will all be happy family (no joke... )
