The Quick and Dirty Version:
My name is Heather, I currently reside in Portland, Oregon. I am 25 with a BS in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly SLO, but working in children's mental health (but trying to get into planning here in Portland where I can). I run really far in my spare time, as well as bake and cook, and I love almost more than anything being on the mountain in the winter. I dream big and am suffering from a growing case of Wanderlust and a mind that over analysis everything.
Welcome to my blog.
The Longer Version:
I grew up as an army brat, born in CA, travel in tote with the family all over, self propelled myself at college, transferring part way though, graduating Spring of 2009. I have a Degree in City and Regional Planning and have worked as a contracted City Planner for the City of Blue Lake, CA for a year and a half.
I do not hate my career choice, but was not passionate about my job and location. I started as an architecture major in college, but after a year decided i enjoyed it more as a hobby then a career, and sometimes wonder if I should of stuck with the hobby. I am still very attracted to design in all things; furniture, utensils, buildings, places, although I continue to work in the environmental and policy realm. I enjoy design, and details and one day hope to go to grad school for something I am passionate about. This is what I am trying to determine now in life, what am I truly passionate about.
I moved to Portland over Thanksgiving week in 2010, to take a full time job under a friend that had an opening, which allowing me to move to an urban location, in children's Residential Mental Health facility at the state hospital level of care. It involves working with some pretty aggressive, as well as some very mentally messed up kids (normally not of their own doing) but realizing that at the same time, they are normal kids most of the time too. It is rewarding and different every day, a challenge and def. a job I know I am needed at when I am there.
I am fairly passive and indecisive about many things until I have decided, then I am goal oriented and unstoppable. Small things make me smile, I notice small details, look down while everyone else looks up, left when everyone is looking right, and I take note of odd thing that most people never even see.
I currently live in Portland, OR and am quite happy for the time being, but am looking out at the world wondering where the next place I will plant myself. I strongly believe everything happens for a reason and that I was driven up here for a reason and that every time something happens that is as big as a move, there is a good reason and lesson in it.
This blog is to document outfits and food, but also to document life as it happens, ups and down, frustrations and success. I have had other blogs for other purposes, but this one is for fun, as an electronic version of me and my free flowing thoughts. If you are someone that knows me as a friend, well then, this blog should make you smile, and hopefully miss me less, while staying up to speed on heathers nonsense brain turmoil. If you do not know me personally... well welcome aboard hopefully my oddity's won't scare you away too soon : )
