Procrastinating
What's your name? Heather
How do you spend your days? Talking to people, some happy, some angry, some kind and insightful, some crazy... selling phones, tablets, accessories, plans - trying to get promoted to teach others to do this rather than myself. Working on a double masters degree, loving on my Mr. and our fuzzy child , and on and off selling greeting cards and banners/paper crafts on etsy through my shop Gnome Notes.
Have you always lived in Alabama?
No... I am an army brat at heart... I wanderlust all over the place.... but my heart is on the west coast, along the coast... from San Luis Obispo to Oregon.... but i've spent time living in southern california, in the heart of the redwoods in far northern california, in kansas, portland, OR, the Gulf Coasts white sand beaches all before getting to "Sweet Home" Alabama.
What are some of your hobbies?
Making Greeting Cards, Reading when I can, apparently always learning, and I dabble in gardening, and would love to get into painting
What's the best meal you've ever had? This is tough because there is such variety in best types... I love my husbands cooking, and I think his impatience to teach me his ways (and desire to keep them 'secret') makes it a bit better when he does cook. I love his pulled pork, love the way he cooks asparagus, and love his tortellini soup.
If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Right now.... San Luis Obispo and then on the mountains of Colorado or Oregon to ski, and then to a cruise or some warm beaches of some foreign country - say maybe south france. (I think I need to truly begin a vacation savings account)-- (This of course would be an ultimate honeymoon we still have yet to go on)
What's the best gift you've ever given? hmmm some of the care packages I have sent Kristopher while away have been the most thought intensive and meaningful, I have failed fairly regularly recently for him.
The wedding books I put together for our family for our wedding, and then the one for my sister and her hubby was very exciting to gift as well - they didn't know I was doing it at all.
And what's the best gift you've ever received? My engagement ring, including a scavenger hunt which has run tradition for Christmas in my family - done with my dad's help at my parents house.
What ability or skill do you most wish you had (that you don't have already)? The ability to be direct and not care as much (I am too nice some times) - I am working on this, but do not naturally have this ability.
What is/was your favorite subject in school? I enjoy math, I loved art classes like ceramics
What's the biggest problem facing the world right now? Caring about others; right now its so much all about 'me' and what are you going to give 'me' because you should give 'me' exactly what I want, exactly the way 'i' would like it, for exactly what 'i' want; regardless of how 'you' are feeling, or what 'you' need, or how it will negatively effect 'you', and disregarding how 'your' life and 'your' day is going.
If you alone could solve it, how would you do it? a good slap upside the head that would knock this revelation in peoples heads : ) In realty, I kill people with kindness and acknowledgment of their struggles, at least then they are kind to me, maybe it will turn their day around and they will be kind to others.
What's your dream job? I'd love to sell real estate or do staging for real estate sales as well as make art of some kind (probably greeting cards) that sell well enough that I can do those two things on my own schedule and enjoy a schedule I create and can do from anywhere my wander-lusting soul and Mr. take me (eventually back to the west coast).
If you had to choose only one: cat or dog? Dog... we are looking to get another puppy soon, how that we have a big ole yard, Ruby is turning 9, and she needs a friend to harass and love on.
What's your favorite movie of all time? I am not a huge movie junkie, but I'd say I go back and watch A Beautiful Mind, Rent, Monsters Inc, and Mona Lisa Smile fairly regularly.
Aside from food, water, and shelter, what one thing could you not go a day without? Coffee and a comfy sweatshirt or blanket.
In everyday life, what is your number one pet peeve? Dirty Hands (wash your hands people) and filth (just take a clorox cloth over the counter/shelf/phone/keyboard already, it'll take 3 seconds)
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Outside of Alabama.... either aboard with the military (hopefully Europe) or living back to the West Coast(Bend, OR possibly). Career wise working in the Operations division of a company (a lively healthy mix of procedures, marketing, organizing, etc) or expanding and thriving Gnome Notes and being involved in non-profit work for community development/sustainability and leader development.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years? Close to retirement, full of wonderful stores, excited to travel more, educated more on gardening/landscaping, spoiling friends children rotten, owning and embellishing another home, debt free (other than home investments), celebrating 22 years of marriage, and enjoying outdoor sports on the regular.
