Well hello 2010...

Hello, I am back, much more relaxed, a slight shade darker (ok, maybe just a few more freckles to appear a bit darker) and ready to get going. Mexician Reveria cruise was amazing (although I don't really know if reveria is an acurate term to use truely) Cabo was beautiful and sea kayaking and snorkeling where totally worthe it. Beautiful shades of blue and the water was actually really nice (especially considering it is January). A tourist-y town though, Puerta Vallerta was really amazing though and a place I think I would go back to for awhile to soak in the culture and enjoy the public art, wonderful colors and culture that seemed to exist there. Was // <- that close to getting a pair of leather cowboy boots there but decided I just was going to need to wait til the next trip (this "next" trip will also include a blue diamond ring, as much as I am not a big jewelry fan, blue diamonds are a wonderful shade I could not get over) so it'll be an expensive trip but sure will come out with a good pair of shoes and a little sparkle. (back to reality)....

Being home and spending time with the family was wonderful this time around, I purely think this was due to the number of activities that took place, but was great, snowboarding, Christmas, family/friend Christmas party, new years eve party at our house, and a week cruise to Mexico, sure does make it a wonderful trip with just enough down time to call it a success.

I flew back up to Arcata on Tuesday on Alaska/horizon airline. Now I have a silly question, I paid $15.00 to check 1 piece of my luggage, ok, I get it, people carry alot of crap on planes, and together mine probably weighed about the same as a small child, so 15 for my checked child wasn't so bad... get on the plane, get up in the air (taking off from LAX always is just so beautiful as you cruise down the coastline) and they pull on the beverage cart while one of the attendants announces they have snacks available for a small fee and rattles off 4.50 for this, 3.75 for this, blah blah blah..... complementary drinks are available to you though at no charge, choices include water, apple juice, coffee, coke (list continues)..... our choice beer of the day, or a white wine....."uhhhh?!!" so what you are telling me is that you will get me drunk in an airplane for free, but I'll have to pay to eat something or bring my luggage..... I guess it probably boosts ratings and happiness of passengers lol. but seriously?! charge for food, not alcohol... I guess things change, worked well for me though I suppose.

Now on to my plans for the new year. I am not a big person on resolutions, but I am a planner, so I look at it more as "life planning" since resolutions just seem to be for breaking and not fulfilling these days.

1. Read more, I use to read a ton, and it dwindled as soo much was required in school through text books, just finished "Avoiding prison and other noble vacation goals" if you enjoy traveling and are suck at home due to career, bills, etc... its a great book, or if you have traveled alot, pick it up as well, its a good laugh all the way through and a great way to travel along with the writer.

2. Run out my stresses, I will admit it, I am a huge planner and worrier, I do not do well with having to choose between A and B, I can get 5-10 or even 100 choices down to like 2 or 3, but then I can't handle it... I worry about a lot of other uncontrollable things in life too... I contribute this to not exercising nearly enough, soooo I got a Garmin for Christmas (this crazy watch made for runners and multi sport athletes that tells you everything but your eye color pretty much) and I want to start running again, and now I am going to make the time to do it, this morning I got up and ran 3 miles (I was dieing and realized waaayyy out of shape) and it can't get any worse from here. I just have to make the time and kick my butt out the front door.

3. Start something new.... I am brainstorming but I want to learn to dance, you know, like actually dances that old people know how to do, and is getting lost and forgotten in our generation.... and I want to start an alumni group up here in Arcata/Eureka area for Greek women. I am sure there are others out there, although it's not really your girly girl type of place, but I know 2 women, not Tri-Delts, but I figure if there is me, and I know 2, there has got to be more, and I plan to investigate if there are others, how,... well I'll figure it out, but i think it would be a great thing for myself and probably for them too...

4. I am going to take more pictures, I don't like pictures of myself but there sure is a lot of beauty in the world around all of us and I want to get back into capturing it all and sharing it.

5. Blog more and stay connected, through visiting people, through emailing them, through writing hand written snail mail (there is a sense of happiness of getting something in the mail that is personalized for you and is not a statement or a bill generated by a computer)

I know I don't want to be in Arcata forever, but I am accepting that this is where I am meant to be and I am going to grow and enjoy it while I am here and figuring out my next move.

Ok...really time to get to work...
